and not less than two shall be from the colleges / educational
institutions in the Telangana area.
5.Three Junior Lecturers nominated by the Government.
6.Three Co-opted members possessing expert knowledge in the
subjects included in the courses of study to be co-opted by the
board of whom one shall be from Telangana area

The Board has also two Standing Committees to take care of

HEAD
OFFICE
The Head office of the Board consists of Secretary, Controller of Examinations, Six Joint
Secretaries, 11 Deputy Secretaries, one Public Relation Officer and Special Officer
(Urdu). There is also a cell for A.V.Education with a Professor, two Asst. Prof.,
Producer, and Asst. Engineer. There are 45 Sections in all. The total personnel working in
the Board of Intermediate Education including sub-ordinate offices is 508. The Head Office
of the Board is housed in its own building at Nampally, Hyderabad.
REGIONAL OFFICES
The Board has established 12 regional offices at (1) Nizamabad (2) Warangal 3)
Rajahmundry (4) Visakhapatnam (5) Guntur (6) Cuddapah (7) Hyderabad (8)Vijayawada
(9) Karimnagar (10) Kurnool (11) Nalgonda and (12) Tirupathi, each headed by one
Regional inspecting officer, who is a senior Principal on deputation to the board. The

The functions of the Regional
Inspecting Officers
- To conduct academic inspection of colleges
offering Intermediate Course.
- Verification of Examination stationary,
affiliation, registration and Recognition fee, Condonation fee, sale proceeds of
application forms, special fee.
- Conduct of spot valuation camps of
Intermediate Public Examinations.
- Inspection for starting of new Junior
colleges and submission of feasibility reports; opening of additional sections, second
languages, groups etc.,.
- To send proposals for constitution of theory
and practical examination centers.
- To conduct enquires on the allegations
leveled against the colleges when ever ordered.
- To attend meetings as board nominee for
selection of teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Constitution of special squad and sitting
squads during examinations.
- To conduct games and sports meet at
intermediate level in each district.
- To issue eligibility certificates ,
readmission & T.C permissions.
- Maintenance of statistical data of colleges,
principals, junior lecturers and students

The total number of
colleges offering Intermediate Course is 2252.
SANCTION OF RECOGNITION /
AFFILIATION TO COLLEGES
Sanction of Recognition/Affiliation to colleges offering Intermediate course is an
important function of the board. Only affiliated/recognised colleges are permitted
to send their students for the examination conducted by the Board.
OPENING OF NEW PRIVATE
JUNIOR COLLEGES
Board is delegated with the power to sanction new private junior colleges vide G.O. Ms.
No. 277 Education (CE III 2) dated 24 / 07 / 95. The guidelines were issued
in G.O. Ms. No. 29 Education (Rules) dated
5 / 02 / 1987 which were modified in G.O. Ms. No. 208 Education dated 21 / 08 / 90
stipulating the amount of corpus fund payable and the accommodation to be provided by the
educational society for starting junior colleges. These specified conditions were
liberalised in G.O.Rt.No. 1623 Education dated 12 / 10 / 90.
Below are the requirement for starting a junior college :
CORPUS FUND
One third of the Corpus fund payable (Rs. 6.25 Lakhs / 3.00 Lakhs inrespect of
co-educational institution and boys junior college / girls junior college respectively )
shall be deposited before starting the college and the balance to be paid into two equal
installments with in a total period of three years from the date of starting the college.
The corpus fund may be paid in cash or through a bank guarantee.
LAND
The land to be provided by the educational institutions is fixed as one acre for students
strength upto 1000 and two acres for students strength above 1000 in the five urban
agglomeration ie., Hyderabad, Warangal, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam and Guntur and
twice the above said in other places. The said extent shall be in addition to the
built up plinth area and shall be provided with in three years from the date
of starting the college.
BUILDINGS
A building with a plinth area of 8000 Sft. is to be provided to run the Junior College.
DOCUMENTS
REQUIRED
1. Registration Certificate of the Educational Society.
2. Bye-laws of the educational
society along with the list of
members/executive body.
3. Ownership documents of the building and land if acquired or the lease
deed of the building or land .The sketch plan of the building in
which
the proposed college is to be located with all dimensions; and
purposes of the use.
4. Documentary evidence in support of the financial position of the
educational societies.
5. Documentary evidence against the providing of infrastructural facilities
to the proposed Junior colleges.
6.Demand Draft for Rs.5,000/- paid in any National Bank towards
inspection in favour of Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education,
A.P., Hyderabad payable at Hyderabad. Application proforma duly
filled in.
CO-OPERATIVE
JUNIOR COLLEGES
During the academic year 1988-89,
Government issued orders to 134 Co-operative Educational Societies for the starting of
Sahakara Junior Kalasalalu and 73 Societies started Co-operative Junior Kalasalalu
during 1988-89.
In the academic year 1989-90, 62 Societies were given permission to start the colleges and
out of that 51 started the Junior Colleges. During the academic year 1990-91, 36
Societies which were permitted earlier started the Junior Colleges. Thus altogether a
total of 160 Junior Colleges in Co-operative sector were given permission by the
Government. Out of this 160, 20 Co-operative Junior Colleges have stopped
functioning .
The board at its meeting held on 27-09-1993 resolved to convert the co-operative junior
colleges into private junior colleges which satisfy the conditions laid down in G.O.Rt.No
1623 Education, dated 12-10-1990. Accordingly 19 co-operative educational societies
came forward for conversion into private junior colleges. Only 121 colleges are
existing at present. |
